Welcome to the Ware County Tax Website.

Our goal is to provide the people of Ware County with a website that is informative and easy to use. You can search our site for a wealth of information on any property in Ware County and you can securely pay your property taxes, as well as renew your car tags, online, at your convenience

Although this website cannot cover the many laws governing taxation in Georgia, you can get answers to the most frequently asked questions and find general information about taxation and your rights and responsibilities as a property owner. You will also find useful links to local and state websites.

My staff and I are here to answer your questions and provide the best public service possible. Always feel free to contact this office if we can assist you.

Sincerely,
Roger Collins

TREES Act

The TREES ACT gives a temporary tax relief from timber taxes for the last quarter of 2024 and all of 2025 provided that local governments adopt resolutions that they are going to provide the relief.

The Ware County Commission and the Ware County School Board emphatically determined that they wanted and needed to provide such relief to the tax payers. They, therefore, have both passed and adopted the resolutions that the tax payers must fill out the form provided by the Georgia Forestry Commission and provide the completed form to the Ware County Tax Commissioner to determine if relief is warranted.

The damaged timber will be the only one affected. It does not cover all timber that is harvested.

To each land owner, fill out the form and if it is determined that it meets the criteria, all severance tax will be refunded if they were paid. If the tax bill hasn’t been paid, it will be zeroed out.

I implore each land owner to fill out the form and turn it in.

FYI, there is also a state income tax credit for the timber casualty loss, up to $550 per acre, and that credit is refundable and transferable. Plus, any federal disaster relief or crop insurance proceeds aren’t taxed at the state level.
